Meet Greg Lassiter, Owner, Champions Health & Fitness
Greg Lassiter has been serving Eastern North Carolina’s fitness community for over 40 years with a clear mission: to deliver a welcoming, results-driven environment where every member feels valued.
He opened his first health club in 1984 in Ayden, NC, while teaching Health Education at East Carolina University. Since then, Greg has grown Champions into a 23,000 sq. ft. facility in Winterville—built on personal connections, quality training, and outstanding customer care.
Greg brings a background in education, coaching, and athletics, with degrees from Lenoir Community College and ECU. His passion for helping people extends beyond the gym: in 2008, he revitalized Cherry Oaks Pool which is home to the Cherry Oaks Torpedoes Swim Team and converted the clubhouse into a boutique fitness center. Champions is slated to open a new club late summer/fall 2025 in Atlantic Beach, NC.
You’ll still find Greg on the floor getting to know each member by name. His commitment to service is at the heart of everything we do. In 2024, Greg was recognized by the Pitt Greenville Chamber of Commerce as Small Business Leader of the Year. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Pitt Community College.
Outside the gym, Greg mentors other club owners, enjoys motocross and loves spending time with his wife Monica, their two sons, Adam and Stokes, and grandson, Beau.
A Note from Greg Lassiter, President of Champions Health & Fitness
Dear Friend,
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you. You are the reason we do what we do, and without you, there is no Champions. While people may recognize me as the owner, I believe ownership truly belongs to three key groups—our members, our management team, and our employees. Together, we all play a role in helping each other succeed.
Sincerely,
Greg Lassiter
President, Champions Health & Fitness
